Back to List

ANAHEIM, CALIF. (February 19, 2010)

St. Catherine’s Military Academy hosted its annual Civil Servants Day Mass & Luncheon on Friday, February 19, 2010 at 11:30 a.m. at the school’s campus in Anaheim. In addition to Mass and lunch, police cars and fire trucks were present for students to explore. Special guests this year included members of the Anaheim Police and Fire Departments, members of the Los Angeles Police Department, Council Member Rose Espinoza of La Habra, and Mayor Ron Garcia of Brea.

An annual tradition, Civil Servants Day allows the cadets of St. Catherine’s Military Academy to thank police officers, fire fighters, city officials, and other civil servants for their service to the community. Students look forward to the celebration, which gives them the opportunity to eat lunch with these dedicated men and women as well as explore police and fire vehicles and equipment. The City of Anaheim brought squad cars, police motorcycles, fire trucks, and even a helicopter.

St. Catherine’s Military Academy, founded in 1889 by the Dominican Sisters of Mission San Jose, is an independent Catholic school with a military tradition for boys in grades kindergarten to 8th grade. The key components of the St. Catherine’s program are challenging academics focused on the specific learning needs of boys and young men, spiritual development under the nurturing care of the Dominican Sisters, and a structured military program that builds confidence and develops leadership skills. The school offers both day and boarding opportunities.
